Reminder that the summer Ethics Bowl workshop hosted by APPE and IEB leadership will begin this evening with an “ABC’s of Ethics Bowl” overview from 4-5 EST, then pick back up Saturday at 11:30 through 6:30, with attendees welcome to pop in and out as desired. The ABCs of the Ethics Bowl: If you are new to the Ethics Bowl or thinking of starting a team, you will benefit tremendously from the ABCs of the Ethics Bowl, presented by Richard Greene and Rachel Robison-Greene. If you’re joining this session, please watch the videos (found here) before the workshop, and plan to join us today for Q&A.
Saturday’s Agenda: Sessions 1, 2, 3, and 7 are plenary sessions. Sessions 4, 5, and 6 contain concurrent sessions. Participants are welcome to attend any session that they like, but the concurrent sessions have been grouped into tracks which one might find useful to follow depending on one’s role, interest, and level of Ethics Bowl experience.
Track 1: Ethics Bowl in the Classroom: Teachers across the country use Ethics Bowl cases and debates in different ways pedagogically. This track will explore different approaches to using Ethics Bowl in a class.
Track 2: Producing the Bowl: This track focuses on the myriad of issues involved in putting on an ethics bowl.
Track 3: Engaging the World: This track focuses on the relationship between the Ethics Bowl and the world in which we currently live.
